Environmental art project “Failure, Understanding, Care (& Kunst)” present “DyeDye”, a project by DuoDuo. This project – originally planned for summer 2020 – is finally taking place in Folkeparken, on Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st August.
On Saturday, DuoDuo will demonstrate experimental processes of dyeing fabrics, utilising local plants and fauna for the purpose. On Sunday 21st, as part of the open days in Folkeparken organised by Perspektivet Museum. DuoDuo will be washing, drying and hanging the dyed textiles in Folkeparken and DuoDuo will invite those in the park for a drop-in “fika”, whereby one can have a taste of the teas made from local plants, as well as chat about the dyeing process.
DuoDuo is the artist-duo of Asta Tutavae Iversen and Humle Rosenkvist, established in Tromsø 2017. They describe their practice as such:
“Our work is a curious investigation of sharing and we work with public participation and acts of sharing between individuals, often based on twosomeness. How to share equally and how to remain an individual even if you act in symbiosis. We’re interested in where functional sharing becomes dysfunctional and what kind of dynamic this might bring.”
DuoDuo would like to thank Nordnorsk Kunstnersenter – whose understanding has allowed this project to be realised two years after its initial conception and to Perspektivet Museum for the support, the custodians of Folkeparken. Thanks to Nor textil for the textiles.
This project is funded by Nord Norsk Kunstnersenter and Tromsø Kommune.
